Job Description

Overview
The Chelsea Public Library is looking for a Librarian. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with both adults and children in a rural setting. They will have strong organizational skills, reference interview skills, research skills, and digital proficiency. 
Responsibilities
*Creating a welcoming patrons experience that drives good customer service.​                     
 *Providing reader’s advisory and reference assistance using print, non-print, and electronic resources.
                           *Assisting patrons with technology, including but not limited to:  computers, scanners, copiers, e-readers, & library specific mobile apps (Libby, Palace Project app, etc..).
                           *Performing librarian-related tasks necessary to meet the community needs including but not limited to:
Collection development
Administrative tasks
Interlibrary loans 
Weeding collection
                      *Creating and promoting library programming for all age groups - with a focus towards fostering children's literacy skills.
Qualifications
Required qualifications
A bachelor's degree in any subject and
  A certificate of Public Librarianship from the Vermont State Department of 
Libraries (or other state library entity) or a commitment to obtain certification within 2 years 
Strong digital literacy skills. 
Salary & Hours
  • 24-30 hours weekly, including Saturdays. 
  • The hourly rate is $25.50 per hour paid every 2 weeks.
  • Library located at: 296 VT Route 110, PO Box 67, Chelsea, VT 05038
